LMAG Individual Service Award
Description
- The Regional IEEE Life Member Individual Service Award is presented annually to a Life Member for significant contributions and service in advancing IEEE Regional initiatives, through excellence in sustained leadership after achieving the Life Member status till 31st December of the preceding year.
- The Global IEEE Life Member Individual Service Award will be given to the outstanding Life Member amongst the current regional awardees.

Awards
- Regional Award: Certificate of Recognition is to be presented during a regional level event, or a Section event.
- Global Award: Plaque of Recognition to be presented at Life Members Committee (LMC) event. Expenses may be paid to the awardee for travelling to an appropriate event to receive the award.
Scope
One Regional award per region and one global award among regional awardees will be granted annually. However, awards may not be granted a given year if no suitable nominations have been submitted.
Eligibility
Life Members in a Section with a Life Members Affinity Group (LMAG) are eligible for the award nomination. No Life Member is eligible to receive more than one Regional IEEE Life Member Individual Service Award within a two-year period and No Life Member is eligible to receive more than one Global IEEE Life Member Individual Service Award within a three-year period. [Examples: (1) A regional winner of 2021 IEEE Life Member Individual Service Award is not eligible for winning the regional 2022 IEEE Life Member Individual Service Award; (2) A global winner of 2021 IEEE Life Member Individual Service Award is not eligible for winning the global 2022, and 2023 IEEE Life Member Individual Service Awards.]
Regional Jury Members (Regional Awards Committee Chair & Members) are not eligible to be considered for this award. LMC Jury Members (LMC
Awards Committee Chair & Members) are not eligible to be considered for
this award.
Nominations received after closing date shall be outrightly rejected.
Judging Process

Regional Awards
A Life Members Affinity Group Region Awards Committee, a joint committee of Region and LMC Members, will consider the excellence and the extraordinary Contributions of the LM in that region. The criteria of selection of the award shall be based on the accomplishments in the following categories:
- LMAG Outreach, Engagement, and Community Involvement
- Corporate engagement
- Pre-university STEM or CTE commitment
- University outreach
- Community participation
- Involvement with other IEEE organizational units and groups, e.g., Young Professionals, WIE, Student members, Student Branches, Sections and Chapters
- Relationships with other professional and technical societies
- Life Member Engagement
- Life Member Affinity Group Vitality as evidenced by one or a combination of
the following:- Performance at LMAG meetings and group activities – attendance and participation
- Affinity Group growth
- Innovative programs for members
- Volunteer activities
- Growth of member involvement
- Financial growth of the LMAG
- Collaboration with other Life Member entities and facilitate interaction among other Life Member Affinity Groups
- Documentation and promotion of LMAG activities, programs, and ideas that can be repeatable and deployed by other LMAGs
- Life Member Affinity Group Vitality as evidenced by one or a combination of
- Advancing the image of IEEE and the Life Members by Communicating LMAG ideals, programs and IEEE initiatives through various channels including, but not limited to:
- Web site
- Newsletters
- Social media
- Blogs
- Public broadcast and print media channels
- Providing general support of IEEE initiatives including:
- Innovation, breadth, and type of activities
- Contributions to the IEEE Life Member Fund
- Conference involvement
- LMAG Outreach, Engagement, and Community Involvement

Global Distinguished Service Award
The same above mentioned criteria will be used to select the Life Member Distinguished Service Award among the Region winners.
Selection committees
- Regional Awards Committee: Regional Life Member Individual Service Awards Committee (or regional panel of judges) constituted by the Regional Life Member Coordinator as Chair and three Life Members in the region, will judge the Nominations received and select one Life Member in the region as winner of the Individual Service Award. The Regional Awards Committee shall consider the extraordinary contributions of the Life Member to the LMAG and to the Life Members in that region.
- Global Award Committee: Life Members Committee (LMC) Awards Committee will select a Global Life Member Individual Service Awardee from amongst the regional award winners of all regions.
Presentation
Presentation of the regional award will take place at an IEEE Region or Area meeting or even local IEEE section event, awards ceremony, or any other IEEE event. The specific venue and timing of the presentation will be finalized between the Regional Life Member Coordinators and the award recipients.
The global award presentation will take place at an LMC event, or possibly at a regional event. The specific venue and timing of the presentation will be finalized between the Life Members Committee and the award recipient.

* LMAGs that are in good standing generally demonstrate the following:
- At least 3 of the Officer positions are filled and functional
- Holding a minimum of 2 meetings but work to achieve at least 6 meetings (that include at least 3 technical meetings)
- Holding or sponsoring at least one event involving students
- Having a current individual web site or be current with information on their Section’s web pages
- Being active in their local community with various functions and events
